Лучшая из четырёх Венер, подаренных в 1783 году Папе Пию VI Доном Филиппо Джузеппе Колонна (1760–1818 гг.) [интересно, что он себе купил за это у Папы].
В 19 веке была задрапирована снизу и экспонировалась в таком виде до 1932 года.
В настоящее время — одна из самых известных и, по мнению некоторых исследователей, наиболее близкая к оригиналу римская копия Афродиты Книдской работы Праксителя.
Иллюстрация убедительно доказывает, что фотограф не тот, у кого хороший фотоаппарат.
